Airbus Industrie was created as a consortium of European aviation companies during 1967 when the British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first Airbus airliner the Airbus A300 which first flew in February 1987. Today Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades was the Boeing 747 Jumbo-Jet airliner but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007, is larger and has already referred to as the new "Super-jumbo".

Information about Lufthansa

Deutsche Lufthansa AG was formed during 1926 as Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft following the merger of "Junkers Luftverkehr" and "Deutsche Aero Lloyd". By the outbreak of the second world war Lufthansa had become one of the world's largest airlines. During WW11 services were curtailed and totally ceased between 1945 to 1953 following Germany's defeat.

Today Lufthansa, following the merger in October 2005 with the Swiss airline SWISS, has become a major international airline Lufthansa currently operates a mixed fleet of Boeing and Airbus airliners and has ordered 15 Airbus A380 "Superjumbo" airliners.
