Information about Lufthansa

Deutsche Lufthansa AG was started in 1926 as the Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft following the merger of "Junkers Luftverkehr" and "Deutsche Aero Lloyd". At the outbreak of WWII Lufthansa had become one of the world's largest airlines. During WW11 services were severely curtailed and totally ceased from 1945 to 1953 following Germany's defeat.

Today Lufthansa, following their merger during October 2005 with the Swiss airline SWISS, has become a major international airline. Lufthansa is operating a large mixed fleet of Boeing and Airbus airliners and has ordered 15 Airbus A380 "Super-jumbo" airliners.
