Airbus Industrie began as a
consortium of European aviation firms in 1967 when British, French and
German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the
first Airbus airliner the Airbus A300. Today Airbus World's second largest
airliner producers. The Airbus A340 is powered by four engines and is a
twin aisle aircraft seating 261-440 passengers. The Airbus A340 first flew
on the 25th October 1991 and is the longest airliner currently in
commercial service.
