Air France was formed in October 1933 and nationalized in 1946 becoming the national airline of France, in February 1999 Air France was privatised and in September 2003 merged with KLM forming the Air France-KLM Group becoming one of the largest airlines in the world. Unfortunately Air France is probably best known for the world's most notorious air-crash when Air France Concorde Flight 4590 crashed in Gonesse, France, on the 25th of July 2000 after having it's tyres ruptured on take-off by a piece of a titanium thrust reverser fallen from a Continental Airlines DC-10 just a few minutes earlier.
